CHRISTIAN EDUCATION


Every Sunday morning we dedicate 9:45-10:45 a.m. to small group study / Sunday School. Our current adult classes are listed below. However, throughout the year other adult classes are formed as new studies are presented. For a better picture of what is available when you visit, please see one of our Lighthouse volunteers in the lobby.

Adults
The Discovery Class is open to adults of all ages. It is a discussion class dedicated to “discovering” the truths of Jesus Christ and applying them to daily life.

The Fellowship Class is a group of mature adults 50 and up (but open to anyone). They study the Bible and are dedicated to the future of the church by participating in activities together.

The Integrity Class focuses on learning scriptural principals. The class is made up of mixed ages, married and singles.

 Koinonia, open to any age adult, studies Scripture & is focused on family and personal spiritual growth. This is a discussion-oriented class where  members teach.

The Learn Together Bible Study is a study of God’s word and how to apply to your life. Participation requires some home study.

The New Beginnings Class is a group of active, fun loving Christians consisting of all ages and various types of family units. Their discussion-based studies are on topics that help them relate God’s word to everyday life and usually last 10-13 weeks each.

The Young Marrieds class is designed to strengthen marriage and develop supportive relationships with other couples. Their purpose is to assist couples in discovering principles from God’s Word that will provide the foundation needed to grow closer to God and to each other. 

Pairs and Spares is a new young adult (mid-20's to 30's) discussion based Sunday School class designed for singles and couples looking for a lifelong, life-giving, real life connection to the Source of life. We are a mission’s oriented class focused on Christian living and growth.

Chapter 2, led by teaching pastor Brad Butler, provides offers group short-term studies. Because it is taught in units, you may join any time.

WIRED! is a class of adults who study a weekly world news event. Participants receive an email on Fridays about a weekly headline to prepare for class on Sunday. Each study is Scripture based and provides the opportunity to witness in everyday life using a topic of familiarity from the news.

Firm Foundation. If you are new to Getwell Road and are considering membership, we recommend you join us for this 5-week class where a variety of gifted leaders talk about our past, present and future, and explain why membership is a four-fold commitment: prayers, presence, gifts, and service. The last class includes a tour of our campus and a special lunch. This class meets quarterly.


Children ages 4 through 2nd grade are dismissed from “big church” shortly after the service begins to have church on their level. On the first Sunday of each month they stay with their parents to celebrate Communion. At 9:45 a.m., kids up to 5th grade convene in the Chapel for “Power Hour,” which lasts until 10:45 a.m. On Wednesdays, children meet from 5:30-6:45 p.m. be reminded of the message they are learning for the month through fun activities such as cooking, music, science and games. Nurseries are provided all morning for infants through 3-years-old.

Youth meet in larger groups on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m. On Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m., they break into smaller focus groups. Our youth are also committed to our community through year-round outreach mission projects. They meet on Tuesday nights in homes for small group Bible study.
